Comfort Hotel ERA Kyoto Horikawagojo

The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. It allowed us to relax and unwind after traveling for days.

It was very clean and the room I got was big compared to other hotels as I am aware Japan rooms are a bit on the smaller side

The breakfast at the comfort hotel was hearty and varied enough to suit everyone's needs. Staff were very friendly. The room was equipped with every necessary amenity. The location is quite close to Kyoto station and very accessible with multiple buses. There are konbinis nearby for emergency food, cravings, quick breakfast or cash.

Horikawa Gojo is still a bit further from most of the attractions, and the road cross-section nearby got a overbridge for pedestrians which is not ideal when you have a lot of luggage. We were forced to cross the roads on the ground level with a long detour. Not a hotel issue as such but a location issue.

I loved the free breakfast. Honestly one of the best perks. The food was good! Also the room was spacious compared to our other hotels. I also really liked how the TV had a netflix option while the other hotels didn't.

Nothing really bad to say, except that there weren't many stores around, so it may be hard to get food or snacks late at night.There is a Royal Host next door which made up for it.

Excellent value. These are micro rooms but if your not in your room a great deal then you won’t notice.

I wish the breakfast Jada few more western options

Good breakfast, nice location, able to walk to Kyoto station, a few castles, and Pokemon center/mall in about 20 min. In some cases, easy to find a taxi too. But

Fresh towels were left each day, but the room wasn't really cleaned during my stay. I was there for two weeks, so that was disappointing.

Slightly from the center where things are happening but I actually like that there are still decent & nice places to eat nearby.It’s very clean and well maintained, for it’s price, we’re very happy with it. Breakfast was also nice.

A nice hotel overall. We had two rooms — the twin room was more spacious, while the double room was quite small, which is common in Japan — but both were clean and comfortable. The staff were super friendly, and the breakfast was excellent.

Comfortable modern rooms and nice bathroom. Excellent cleaning every day. Breakfast is ok. Not so much to choose from. The location of the hotel is ok if you like to walk a lot, otherwise there is bus stop just outside. Kyoto train station is like 20 minutes walk.

Very disappointing — a room with bad urine smell, and no proper refund; avoid this hotel

Very disappointing stay. We booked 4 nights but left after the first one. The room had a strong, unpleasant smell of urine that cleaning couldn’t fix, even after several attempts. Staff offered little help — they said nothing could be done the first night because housekeeping had gone home. Next day they suggested changing to a smaller (2 beds instead of 3) “accessible” room without a real window, and even asked us to pay extra for a child bed.Communication was difficult since most staff barely spoke English. Some tried to help, others didn’t care at all. They didn’t want to take responsibility and pay us a refund! After long discussions with Booking, we finally got a refund for 3 nights, but not for the city tax, so we had to pay it again in the next hotel! A lot of money, precious time and good mood wasted. Also note: the hotel is hard to reach by public transport — long viaducts with no elevators. Definitely not recommended.

Breakfast was amazing! They offered such a large variety of options – sweet & savory! Great smoothies! The hotel room was very comfortable and cozy. We asked for close rooms with other we were traveling with and they got us on the same floor which was nice.

The only thing I didn't like was how far it was from that closest station. We had to do a lot of planning and running. There was a nice grocery store a block or two down that had a bus stop right out front so that was nice to run in grab snacks and then hop on a bus.

I like the little couches at the Reception area where you can hang out and also do some origami stuff which the hotel provided. The staff are all courteous and very helpful.

There are only 3 washing machines shared across the hotel. You have to make sure that you are there as soon as your laundry run finishes as they take away your clothes so the next one can use it immediately. Also the "self check-in" wasn't really self check-in because the machines still need the staff verification somehow and so the guests are still being assisted by staff anyway on check-in so this step only adds people traffic upon check in and doesn't really save time for guests nor staff. The hotel is also on the city fringe with metro being quite a walk so we have to use the bus mostly. We have to familiarise ourselves with the bus routes to and from the hotel and exactly which bus stop we need to go, Google maps was really helpful in navigating where we are and where to go.

Comfort in hotel is match to name of hotel. Very friendly staff. Amazing rooms. Near hotel is bus stop.

Number of laundries is recommended to increase. Busy laundry during day.

Excellent hotel and excellent location! Very good breakfast included. The staff was very, very friendly and supportive all the time. The bedroom was huge and it easily accommodated my family. Excellent value for the money! I will come back to Kyoto and will certainly stay in the same hotel!
